Building Regulation Changes

August 13, 2010, 5:38 pm

Part L1A and Part F of the Building Regulations come into force in October 2010. How will the changes to the building regs effect you and what can you do to mitigate the impact of the changes on your bottom line

The most obvious changes will be:  1. The increase in the cost of the structure due to the need to increase the U-values. 2. The need to improve the air tightness.       3. The need to reduce heat loss through thermal bridging.

Other associated costs will be incurred through:  1. Various additional on site testing requirements. 2. Employing specialists SAP assessors/ consultants.

To keep the construction costs down, it is possible to make early building regulation applications to allow developments to go ahead under the 2006 regulations.  For more information on how you avoid these costs please contact Tom Kelly on 0161 336 5011.
