The Bury Vicarage for St Vincents Housing Association which formed part of the project in focus in June 2010 is now nearing completion - aimed at the larger BME sector all the units have been designed to HQI, BME Housing design protocol, CSH 3&4 and to lifetime homes standard.
With a thorough understanding of the design principles associated with each of the standards and an in-house and in-depth understanding of the technical issues associated with delivering CSH compliant units we were able to deliver CSH level 3 without the use of any renewables, offering savings to the client.
The overall capital and lifecycle cost savings has meant that St.Vincents have now upgraded two of the units to CSH level 4 with the use of PV’s on the south facing roof slopes.
In addition, a suitable candidate has been found and assessed and one of the Code 4 units is being fitted out to accommodate this wheelchair user. The ground floor shower room is being fully fitted as a shower room, the knockout panel between the bathroom and master bedroom will be opened up and the through floor lift is being installed.
We have adapted one of the CSH level 4 units for this purpose so that the tenants can benefit directly from the free energy generated from the PV’s that can be used to charge wheelchairs and equipment.
